An unabashedly sporting town, Nancy is the French metropolitan area with the greatest number of card-carrying members: 1 out of every 5 residents belongs to one of the 600 clubs in Greater Nancy. Some 60 sporting disciplines are offered, targeting both recreational and competing athletes. There are 665 high-quality sporting facilities, and in particular, 10 pools, an aquatics centre, 2 equestrian centres, a race cart track and 2 golf courses.
Basketball fans watch closely as SLUC Nancy posts feat after feat in the national premier league : nearly 5,000 people gather every 15 days in the cauldron-like stadium known as the Gentilly Parc des Sports.
