Qualified labour capable of meeting business requirements

The face of Greater Nancy's population is rapidly changing. Many active workers, bringing their families with them, are entering the Greater Nancy employment basin to take up responsibilities in management or hold positions in higher education and research.

Young people in the majority : young adults aged 19 to 29 are greater in number in Greater Nancy (+60% compared to the national average), a trend that can be ascribed to the presence of many students and young active workers.

A high female activity rate : the educational level of women in the Greater Nancy area is such that there are more active women in the higher age groups. They also remain active for a longer time. The opportunities offered by the public services sector, particularly well-represented in Nancy, also fosters female employment.

A well-balanced array of trades : the breakdown between socio-professional categories offers a relatively well-balanced professional profile. Of particular note is the large percentage of qualified production workers in industrial jobs, as well as the prevalence of the services sector, which is reflected in the large number of employees.

An above-average percentage of higher education degrees : amongst young people aged 15 and above, the percentage of young graduates, whatever the level, is higher than the national average. One-third of those 15 and above hold at least a Baccalaureate. In contrast, the percentage of non-graduates is far lower than the national average. This trend can be attributed to the number and range of training programmes offered in Greater Nancy.
