Greater Nancy:
International vision

Strong International Investment

A Strong International Presence

For foreign investors, Greater Nancy is a territory at the forefront. For many years now, it has managed to take every opportunity to attract enterprises from the world over.

Alone, Nancy's employment area is home to 112 companies operating primarily on foreign capital, from some twenty countries (the Americas, Germany, Scandinavia, Japan and others) and employ more 9,000 people.

There are many establishments dedicated to industrial activity. This is true especially at the outskirts of the metropolitan area with such players Solvay (Belgium) in chemicals, or Crown Bevcan (United States) and its metal beverage can factory. However, over the past few years, logistics companies like et Jet Services (Netherlands) and UPS (United States), and service companies such as CCF-HSBC (Great Britain), Sécuritas (Sweden), or high-tech, like  B. Braun Médical (Germany) and Syntegra (Great Britain) have come in growing numbers. Today, they account for nearly 70% of foreign businesses established in the region.

A number of major international corporations have recently confirmed their commitment to remaining in Greater Nancy and have made major investments there.
Eight years after setting up extensive facilities in the Nancy-Pompey industrial park, the Italian company Delipapier, has doubled its plant’s production capacity. Today, over 400 people work to produce toilet and household paper.
In Laxou, Arvato Services (owned by the German group, Bertelsmann) opened a call centre in 2000, and now employs over 600 telephone associates there. The communications giant has also established a major logistics platform in Alton, north of the metropolitan area, employing 300 people.

The impact of foreign investment can also be seen in the financial stakes taken out or company take-overs driven by foreign companies. The Kronenbourg Brasseries in Champigneulles left Dannon's umbrella to join forces with the Scottish group, Scottish and Newcastle. Danel (Apax Group) was taken over by South-African company Bidvest to become Lithotec France and Matra Nortel Communications joined British group Amec Spie. Still more recently, the automobile equipment manufacturer VDO (Siemens Group) was absorbed by American Cignet.
